LRCS' Comprehensive Supports

Lakes Region Community Services (LRCS) is dedicated to serving the community by promoting independence, dignity, and opportunity.

LRCS offers families and individuals living with a developmental disability and/ or acquired brain disorder a wide range of support options. LRCS' offerings are designed to provide comprehensive service from birth through adulthood, and every stop in between. 

Following is a general list of supports offered by LRCS. For more specific information, please contact the appropriate LRCS representative.

Early Supports and Services

Family-Centered Early Supports and Services (ESS), New Hampshire's Early Intervention system, is a service provided to families and children under the age of three who have a developmental delay, disability or an established condition. Services are provided in the home and community to assist families in providing the best evidence based practices to increase a child's growth and development.

Childcare Resource and Referral

LRCS’ Childcare Resource and Referral Program supports Belknap, and Southern Grafton County families looking to access quality childcare options for their children.  Intimately familiar with the childcare providers in the area, this LRCS service group will refer your family to those certified childcare providers that best match your location and personal situation. 

Additionally, the Childcare Resource and Referral Program works directly with area childcare providers seeking licensing, certification, professional development, and training options.  This dual pronged approach ensures that area families have access to a multitude of quality childcare options as well as giving childcare providers access to professional development that can only enhance the services they provide to the families they support.

Family Resource Center

The mission of the Family Resource Center of Central NH (FRC-CNH) is to strengthen families and thereby strengthen the communities in which they live by enhancing their social connections and by providing support, services, and resources utilizing family support principles.  

Supports include the Giggles and Grins playgroup; parent education and support; early childhood initiatives such as Born Learning, Watch Me Grow, and school readiness; Early Supports and Services; the Autism Center; Step Ahead, a home visiting program; information and referral services to community supports; and childcare resource and referral services.

Step Ahead Program

The Step Ahead Program provides specific services and supports to families with children under eighteen years of age. Supports are provided on an individual basis and enable families to be in control of their own future while assisting them to meet identified needs. This is a voluntary program and referrals come from a variety of sources. Services are free and including the following: home visiting, resource coordination, family aides, health education, nd child developmental screening.

Family to Family Support

Family to Family Support provides guidance and assistance to families living at home with developmentally disabled family members.  LRCS will provide a Family Support Resource Coordinator who will work directly with your family. Families can receive assistance with accessing community resources; receiving respite support; making needed environmental modifications; obtaining in-home supports; and accessing general support and information.

Self Directed Services

The Self Directed Service Option provides individuals with a developmental disability or acquired brain disorder and/or their families the option to design, manage and direct their support services using preauthorized Medicaid funds.  Individuals/family members may choose their own staff, decide how much to pay them, and determine their schedule.  There is also the option to contract with family members, businesses, neighbors, or service providers for supports, transportation, tutoring and a variety of other activities. Following Medicaid guidelines, individuals and/or their family determine when and how the authorized funds are spent.  For more information on the Self Directed Service Option please contact your Resource Coordinator and/or considered attending the training event on Self Directed Services.

HomeAssist Program

The HomeAssist Program is designed for seniors and individuals with a chronic illness who are having difficulty with day to day responsibilities associated with independent living.  The program provides individuals with personal non-medical support to maintain their independence at home for as longs as possible. The individual and/or their family chooses who works for them and the services needed now and in the future. Lakes Region Community Services' HomeAssist Program is the professional link between the individual and their personal care service provider (PCSP). We will help you design and schedule your own service plan while providing guidance and on-going support to you and your PCSP.

Shared Family Living

The Shared Family Living Program connects developmentally disabled consumers with qualified area families who are willing to welcome the consumer into their home in a shared living arrangement.  Supported by LRCS staff, this scenario enables disabled consumers to take part in every day functions in the home in their community, maximizing their quality of life.

Employment Services 

LRCS believes that every person should have the opportunity to access and maintain employment. Employment has an obvious economic benefit that allows individuals to live more independently and provides the economic freedom to choose activities that expand one's life experiences. We believe that everyone should be employed and our primary focus of supports within the community is to assist individuals in achieving their career goals. LRCS utilizes a team approach to provide personalized job development.

LRCS operates two career development offices located in Laconia and Plymouth serving individuals in Belknap and Southern Grafton counties. Our Career Consultants offer a range of expertise, including: work incentive planning, customized employment arrangements and self-employment.
